The house that originally stood on this lot burned to the ground in the 2017 Tubbs fire. The owners loved the property and asked us to design a modern, airy house with an open floor plan as a replacement.

They requested durable materials in case of future fires, contemporary interior design with lots of color, and a roof capable of maximizing a solar energy system. The sloping site allowed for multiple levels with views of the surrounding woods from all rooms. Vaulted ceilings with transom windows expand the space and scale of the house. Multi-colored tile patterns throughout recall the owners’ whimsical natures and reflect the multitude of colors that stream in from the natural surroundings.
