Road Trip Bar & Grill, Capay Valley
Two motorcycle enthusiasts wanted to combine their love of the open road with their love of cooking and socializing. They decided to create a destination restaurant and bar that would also appeal to locals. A perfect opportunity presented itself: an abandoned gas station along the road to a picturesque valley and popular casino resort. They decided to rehab the building and add on to create a bar, restaurant, outdoor gathering area and market.
The indoor/outdoor concept works well for balmy Sacramento Valley evenings. Large windows frame views of the outdoor entertaining areas and oak-studded hills beyond. Steel shade structures and awnings shelter diners while a fire pit offers a place for people to gather and talk. Stone fountains quietly burble on the edges, dampening the road noise. In a nod to the area ranches, barnwood walls have been branded with local brands. Etched wood panels at the bar highlight the scenes visitors will see as they travel up the Capay Valley.
